The Journey of The Crossing

Our History

With the partnership and support of Canyon Ridge Christian Church and Central Christian Church, Senior Pastor Shane Philip and a committed group of volunteers began the journey to plant a church in Southwest Las Vegas that would reach out to the area’s swiftly growing population. The Crossing, A Christian Church first opened its doors in September 2000 at Lawrence Junior High. Almost a thousand people came through the doors that day to be a part of God’s great adventure.

The fledgling church quickly carved out a niche in the community, averaging 600 attendees in the first year. After a move to Sierra Vista High School the following year, The Crossing continued to thrive and see amazing life-change, while growing 15 % each year on average.

In August 2005, the prayers and dreams of The Crossing’s staff, members and supporters were brought to life in a tangible way. Inaugural services were held at the newly completed 20-acre campus located on the corner of Buffalo and Windmill, and The Crossing now had a permanent home.
Over the next several years, The Crossing’s mission to partner with God to help people discover Jesus and the Journey saw further progress. In 2010,

The Crossing took a unique step to make a conscious effort to serve their community and impact their world for Christ. The Crossing started their annual serve day, where over 1500 volunteers each year have set aside a day to serve and beautify different areas of the Vegas Valley. The Crossing also committed to starting or building ten churches around the world, with this project nearing completion, some of these locations include: India, Ghana & Ecuador. This initiative has turned into our REACH: Missions which now has over 40 partners in 17 countries and 5 states, as well as a quarterly, serve day.

With The Crossing continuing to reach people both locally and globally, 2012 brought a new set of challenges that could not go unnoticed. With these new challenges, The Crossing launched a new initiative called “All In.” Through All In, The Crossing Family dedicated 12 million dollars to continue to develop the ministries currently happening, to expand the current campus to accommodate all of the people that are finding Christ, and continue their global impact. In February 2014, The Crossing moved into their new 1,800 seat auditorium, which was expanded to seat 2,500 people in 2015.
Almost 5,000 people attend The Crossing during their weekend services while Groups, Youth and Children’s ministries grew steadily as even more people became involved and invested in The Crossing’s mission of “Helping people discover Jesus and The Journey.”

In February 2017, The Crossing became one church in multiple locations with the launch of their first regional campus in the Henderson area.

The Crossing’s story is still being written. With relevant, honest teaching, inspiring worship, and the dedicated service of hundreds of volunteers, The Crossing continues to hold out love and hope to people across the Southwest Valley.
