A 10-Month Ministry Immersion Experience

Residency at The Crossing

The Crossing Residency is dual in focus and one in purpose. We want to immerse Residents in a fast-paced, ever-growing ministry context while coming alongside to invest in them by providing an understanding of how to engage culture with the Gospel. Our heart is to develop Residents who grasp and embody the core competencies of seasoned leaders.

The Residency at The Crossing lasts 10 months. Starting August 1, 2021 and finishing May 29, 2022. We believe this gives Residents an understanding of the ministry rhythms here at The Crossing. It is our vision to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world application on the journey of vocational ministry.

-looking to grow in their capacity to lead

Ministry Focus Tracks
Residents have their choice of Ministry Focus Tracks during their residency. When working within their area of focus Residents are taking the lead on projects, handling day-to-day details, building and leading teams, and navigating a variety of situations. Residents are considered as a part of the team, in both expectation and ownership. Residents are immersed in ministry and learn firsthand what it takes to invest in the lives of others and impact a community.

Kids Ministry (Early Childhood and Elementary)
Missions
Creative Arts
Operations (Guest Services, Assimilation, Finances, Facilities, HR)
Spiritual Development
Campus Pastor

In addition to a Resident’s Ministry Focus Track they also get a sampling of experiences from each area of ministry here at The Crossing. This could range from serving on the Parking Team to pulling together a video shoot. We believe there is value in being exposed to as many aspects of ministry as possible.

About Us

Residency Roundtables

Over the course of the 10 months, we will regularly gather Residents together for times of processing, discussion, celebration, prayer, and conversation in a roundtable style experience. We want to create space where thoughts can be shared, questions can be asked, and feedback can be given.

Mentoring

While Residents are here at The Crossing they will be paired up with a Mentor from our staff. In most cases the Mentor will be their direct staff oversight. Residents meet with their Mentors weekly.

Culture and Competency Conversations

Twice a month we will gather our Residents together for a focused time of learning. These conversations will range from soul care to leadership competencies. Our Residents aren’t here to simply do tasks. Instead, our goal is to give them hands-on experience and a mental framework to shape the ministries they will one day lead.

Staff investment • Staff Development • Multi-site • Diversity • Church processes: assimilation, DEPs • Church culture • Leadership Development • Project Management • Pastoral Care/Benevolence • Networking • Leading up, down, and across • Resume Writing • Interview Strategies • Understanding Your Community and Culture • Longevity in Ministry • Budgeting • Legal Liabilities

The Experience

Residents work in a full-time capacity alongside The Crossing staff (20-30 hours per week)
Residents receive a weekly stipend
Residents are housed with families from The Crossing
Residents have the opportunity to attend some of the best leadership conferences in the country

Application Process

All potential Residents must complete the online application by logging on at thecrossinglv.com/residency to be considered for the Residency Program. Upon a successful first round interview with the staff lead, residency candidates will then do a secondary interview with the staff member responsible for their desired ministry focus. The next step is to process with all interviewers as to the best fits and complete any further interviews needed to narrow down to the best candidate.

Residents will need to provide their own laptop computer, cellular phone, and transportation.
Residents are subject to all the policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook.

Logistics

What are we looking for?

The Crossing is looking for college students that have completed no less than 2 years of full-time study toward a four-year degree.
