Day 15: August 24, 2020
Day 15: For Our Kids

Scripture: My people… listen to the words of my mouth… things our ancestors have told us. – Psalm 78:1, 3b (NIV)

We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. – Psalm 78:4 (NIV)

“… He commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. – Psalm 78:5b-7 (NIV)

Prayer Focus: Today, on this first day of school, pray for our Students and our Parents. Kids are facing another year of distanced, online school. We need to lift them up. And for parents, there has never been a more difficult time being a parent, than today. You don’t have to be a perfect parent to pass onto your kids a faith and trust in God.

Day 16: August 25, 2020
Day 16: For Our Teachers

Scripture: “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers”. – Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9 (NIV)”

Prayer Focus: Let’s join together to pray for all of our teachers and educators. If you know someone, pray for them by name. Read the entire chapter of Psalm 1 today; it will encourage you.

Day 17: August 26, 2020
Day 17: For Those Suffering

Scripture: Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them—they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness. – Psalm 41:1-3 (NIV)

Prayer Focus: Today, pray AND do something. Is there a way you can help or serve? Do you need to make a phone call and let someone know that you care and are praying for them? Today, let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are suffering.

Day 18: August 27, 2020
Day 18: For The Frontliners + First Responders

Scripture: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” – Psalm 91:1-6, 14-16 (NIV)

Prayer Focus: Today, take time to pray for all of our front liners and first responders. Would you pray for their safety? Pray for strength during these challenging times, and pray for their families who are partners with them on the front lines. That is a challenging calling them as well.

Day 19: August 28, 2020
Day 19: For The Needy

Scripture: “But God will never forget the needy; the hope of the afflicted will never perish.” – Psalm 9:18 (NIV)

“You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed…” – Psalm 10:17-18a (NIV)

“He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, the Lord gives sight to the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.” – Psalm 146:7-9 (NIV)

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” – Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)

Prayer Focus: Today, pray for those in need. Those who are struggling financially. Those worried about where their next meal will come from. Pray for our widows and those who are fatherless. For those who are oppressed and need hope.  And perhaps, not just pray, but to roll up your sleeves and serve them. We have plenty of opportunities at The Crossing to do just that.

Day 20: August 29, 2020
Day 20: Magnifying Jesus As We Go

Scripture: And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. – Psalm 78:72 (NIV)

Prayer Focus: Today, would you spend time thank God for our Staff and Elders. Would you pray for the integrity of their heart. For the calling that God has given them. Pray for them by name.

Day 21: August 30, 3030
Day 21: For Our Church

Scripture: “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” – Psalm 23:1-6 (NIV)

Prayer Focus: Today, spend some time praying for The Crossing. Would you pray that we would be a church that is helping people discover Jesus, and pray that we would continue to help them on that journey of becoming fully devoted followers of Christ. Ask God will show you what your role is in that.
